The 2013 session of the South Dakota Legislature convened on Tuesday, January 8. Legislators took the official oath of office and started work on a 38-day session that will cover a multitude of topics including such weighty subjects as criminal justice reforms, education funding, whether to expand Medicaid eligibility and a host of issues associated with oil and gas exploration in western South Dakota.

SDN Communications and Dakota Carrier Network hosted the 6th Annual INDATELgroup Summer Symposium in Chicago June 5-7.  The annual event provided opportunities for networking and learning on topics relevant and important to the industry.  Industry experts participated on panel discussions regarding Carrier Ethernet, Broadband Utilization, Smart Grid and Carrier Hotels.  INDATELgroup members toured the world’s largest data center, the premier 350 Cermak.  They also visited US Cellular Field to watch the hometown Chicago White Sox take on the Toronto Blue Jays.
